The Fluval 407 is the top of the current 07 series and, for most people running a tank between 200 and 400 litres, the default recommendation. It pushes 1450 L/h through four stackable media baskets, so you can build a mechanical-then-biological media path with room left over for chemical media when you need it. What it’s actually like to live with
Two things stand out day to day. First, it is quiet — the redesigned pump and feet make it one of the calmer canisters once it is primed and burped of air. Second, servicing is painless: the EZ-Lift baskets raise the whole media stack out in one movement, and the Aquastop valve lets you pull the hoses off without a bucket of spilled water. Is the Fluval 407 quiet?

What media should I run in it?
