How AquaVerdict is funded

Plain-English: how we make money, and why it never changes our verdicts.

AquaVerdict is reader-supported. To keep the site free and independent, we use affiliate links. When you follow one of our links to a retailer and buy, we may earn a small commission โ€” at no extra cost to you. The price you pay is exactly the same.

Amazon Associates

AquaVerdict is a participant in the Amazon Associates Programme and its international equivalents, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn fees by linking to Amazon and affiliated sites. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Most of our buy links point to Amazon through our own /go redirect, which detects where you are and sends you to the Amazon store for your country, so prices and availability are correct where you live.

Other retailers

Some specialist aquarium brands sell best (or only) through their own websites and dealer networks. Where that is the case, we link to the brand's own store instead of Amazon โ€” sometimes via an affiliate programme and sometimes not.

How this affects our ratings โ€” it doesn't

Our reviews are editorially independent. No brand or retailer pays for a better ranking or a kinder write-up, and commission rates never influence which products we recommend across filters, heaters, lighting or any other category. We recommend the gear that suits your tank and your budget, not the one that pays us most โ€” and we say clearly when a product falls short. You can read exactly how we test.

Prices

Prices shown are indicative or pulled live from our price service, and they can change at any time. Always check the final price on the retailer's own site before you buy.
