- Made for plant-heavy tanks where fish waste is not enough
- Included pump dispenser makes weekly dosing quick and consistent

- Weekly dosing may not be frequent enough for a hungry high-light tank
The European all-in-one
Where North American tanks reach for Easy Green, plant-heavy tanks across the UK and Europe reach for Tropica Specialised Nutrition. It is a complete all-in-one from one of the best-known plant growers: nitrogen and phosphorus for the macros, plus iron, manganese and the trace micros, all in one pump bottle. As with any all-in-one, dosing it into the water column — here, once a week at the water change — covers the needs of most planted tanks in a single step.
Specialised, not Premium
The key choice is which Tropica bottle you buy. Specialised includes N and P, making it right for tanks with many plants and relatively few fish, where waste alone will not feed everything. The sister product, Premium, drops N and P for tanks that are lightly planted or heavily stocked. Because Specialised does carry macros, match the dose to your plant load — a densely-planted tank uses it up, while a sparse tank over-dosed on N and P just hands the surplus to algae. Start at the weekly rate and watch the plants.
How it fits with our other picks
If your tank is lightly planted or you prefer a micro-only top-up, the gentler Seachem Flourish is a good partner, and heavy root-feeders still want Seachem Flourish Tabs. See every option on our plant fertilizers hub, and get the lighting right so the nutrients actually get used.
Europe's default all-in-one for plant-heavy tanks. Complete nutrition, a handy pump and easy weekly dosing — just size the dose to your plant load so nothing goes to waste.
Specialised Nutrition — frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Tropica Specialised and Premium Nutrition?
Specialised Nutrition is the complete all-in-one — it includes nitrogen and phosphorus as well as iron and micros, so it suits plant-heavy tanks that need macros. Premium Nutrition deliberately leaves out nitrogen and phosphorus, for tanks where fish already supply plenty of those. If your tank has many plants and few fish, choose Specialised; if it is lightly planted or heavily stocked, Premium (or a micro-only supplement) is the safer pick.
How should I dose it for low-tech versus high-tech tanks?
The label rate is about 5 mL per 50 L once a week, added at your water change — that suits most low-tech and moderately-planted tanks. A high-light, CO2-injected tank grows faster and may want smaller doses more often through the week rather than one weekly hit. Start at the weekly rate, watch the plants, and split the dose if growth is outpacing the feed.
Will it cause algae?
Fertiliser does not cause algae by itself — excess light and unstable CO2 do. But because Specialised contains nitrogen and phosphorus, dosing a full rate into a sparsely-planted tank leaves nutrients unused, which can feed algae. Match the dose to how many plants you actually have: heavily planted tanks use it up, sparse tanks need less.
