NilocG Thrive is an all-in-one liquid fertiliser, and that word matters. Where a trace supplement covers only micros, Thrive bundles the macros — nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium — with the full spread of trace elements and iron in a single pump bottle. Dose it a few times a week and you have covered the entire water-column feeding picture for a planted tank without measuring out separate products. It is also highly concentrated: a 500 mL bottle dilutes to treat a very large total volume, which is what makes its cost-per-dose one of the lowest among complete ferts.
The pump dispenser keeps dosing quick and repeatable — roughly one pump per ten gallons a few times a week is the usual starting point, adjusted to your plant mass and growth.
Match the dose to the tank
The one thing to get right is matching Thrive’s strength to your setup. It is formulated for medium-to-high-tech tanks with a genuine plant mass to consume the nutrients — with or without CO2. In a lightly-planted low-tech tank the surplus nutrients can just as easily feed algae, so under-planted tanks should dose conservatively or reach for a leaner low-tech formula (NilocG’s own Thrive C fills that niche). And because Thrive works through the water column, heavy root-feeders like swords and crypts still benefit from a root tab pushed in near their roots — the liquid handles the leaves and water, the tab handles the roots.

Yes. Unlike a micro-only supplement, Thrive carries the macros — nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium — as well as the full spread of trace elements and iron. That means one bottle covers the whole water-column picture for a planted tank, dosed a few times a week, without you juggling separate macro and micro products.
Is it too strong for a low-tech tank?
It can be if the tank is lightly planted. Thrive is formulated for medium-to-high-tech tanks with a real plant mass to soak up the nutrients. In a sparsely-planted low-tech tank the surplus can feed algae, so either dose more conservatively or choose a leaner low-tech fert. Do I still need root tabs?
For heavy root-feeders, yes. Thrive is a water-column fertiliser — it feeds through the leaves and the water. Hungry rooted plants like swords and crypts also draw nutrients through their roots, so push a root tab near them and let Thrive handle the water column. The two together cover both feeding routes.
