Frequently asked questions

What PAR do I need for a high-tech planted tank?

Demanding carpets and red plants typically want high PAR — often 60–120+ µmol at the substrate depending on species and tank depth. But PAR is only useful if CO2 and nutrients keep up: run high light on a tank without injected CO2 and rich dosing and you'll grow algae, not a lush carpet.

Do I need CO2 to run these lights?

For high-tech results, yes. High PAR drives fast photosynthesis, which the plants can only sustain with plenty of dissolved CO2 and fertiliser. Push the light hard without those inputs and the plants stall while algae exploit the surplus. Balance is everything — light, CO2 and ferts scale together.

Can I dim a high-power aquascaping light?

Yes, and you should. The Chihiros WRGB II Pro and Week Aqua both offer app control with dimming and spectrum tuning, so you can start a new scape at 30–40% and ramp up as it fills in. Dimming is your main lever for preventing algae while the tank matures under a powerful fixture.
