👍 Pros

  • RGB+UVA full spectrum renders reds, greens and pinks more vividly than almost anything at this length
  • Very high PAR — comfortably drives demanding carpets and red stems under CO2
  • App control with preset modes, custom channels and smooth sunrise/sunset dimming
  • Wide panel spreads light evenly across a 90 cm scape rather than spotlighting the centre

👎 Cons

  • Premium price — this is enthusiast-tier lighting
  • Far too much light for a low-tech tank; without CO2 and ferts it will grow serious algae
  • App and firmware polish trails the biggest brands; pairing can take a couple of tries

A colour-first panel for serious scapes

The Week Aqua P900 Pro is built for aquascapers who care about how a tank looks under the light as much as how fast it grows. Its RGB+UVA full spectrum renders reds, pinks and greens with a depth that white-only and even standard RGB bars struggle to match, and the wide panel spreads that light evenly across a 90 cm scape. Behind the colour sits serious PAR — enough to drive demanding carpets and red stems when the rest of the system keeps up.

This much light demands CO2 and ferts

There is no way around it: a fixture this strong writes cheques your CO2 and fertiliser have to cash. Run it hard over a tank with no gas and no dosing and you are fertilising algae, not plants. The rule holds — match the light to the system. Inject pressurised CO2 with a solenoid on a timer (see our CO2 systems hub), dose an all-in-one from the plant fertilizers guide, and keep a tight 6–8 hour photoperiod with the app’s sunrise/sunset ramp. Confirm your CO2 level with a drop checker before you push brightness.

How it fits our other picks

If the P900 Pro is more light — and more money — than your tank needs, the Chihiros WRGB II 45 delivers vivid RGB for far less, and the Fluval Plant 3.0 is a gentler app-controlled option. For a hands-off automatic cycle, see the Finnex Planted+ 24/7. For the full line-up and the low-tech vs high-tech question explained, visit our aquarium lighting hub, and match the light to your tank on the aquariums page.

⚖️ The bottom line

An enthusiast's light: huge PAR and RGB+UV colour rendition that make a 90 cm high-tech scape glow. Overkill and algae-bait on a low-tech tank, but close to reference-grade on a CO2-injected one.

Week Aqua P900 Pro — frequently asked questions

Do I really need the UV channel?

It is not essential, but it is the reason the P900 Pro looks the way it does. The UVA channel makes certain pigments — reds, pinks and some greens — pop in a way white-and-RGB alone cannot. It is a colour-rendition and 'wow factor' feature more than a growth one; plants grow mainly on the red and blue channels, which the panel also delivers in quantity.

Can I run this on a low-tech tank?

You can, but you would be wasting it and inviting algae. This is a high-PAR fixture designed for high-tech tanks. On a low-tech setup you would have to dim it heavily and keep the photoperiod short. If you are not injecting CO2 and dosing ferts, a gentler light is the smarter, cheaper choice.

How long should the photoperiod be?

Start at 6 hours on the app timer for a new tank and extend toward 8 only once plants are established and algae is under control. With a light this strong, use the sunrise/sunset ramp and be conservative — consistency and CO2 stability matter far more than a long day.
