Why go big
The advice buyers most often ignore — and later regret — is “buy the biggest tank you can”. The Juwel Rio 180 is where that advice pays off. At 180 L on a metre-wide footprint, it is one of the most forgiving aquariums you can keep: the large volume dilutes the impact of an overfeed or a missed water change and buffers the temperature and chemistry swings that catch out nano keepers. It ships complete with twin MultiLux LED bars, the modular Bioflow filter and an AquaHeat heater.
Living with 180 litres
The two LED bars throw strong, even light down the full length of the tank, so plants grow across the whole layout rather than just under a single bar — a real advantage for a planted community. The Bioflow filter is the same serviceable platform as the rest of the Juwel range, with cheap media and quick swaps. The trade-off is commitment: filled, the tank weighs over 200 kg, so it needs the matching SBX cabinet (or an equally rated, dead-level stand) and a spot you are happy to keep it in for years. This is not a tank you casually move.
How it compares

Is a 180 L tank hard to look after?
Counter-intuitively, no — a bigger tank is more forgiving, not less. The large water volume dilutes mistakes and buffers temperature and chemistry swings, so you have more time to react. The main commitment is the weight and the weekly water change.
What can I keep in the Juwel Rio 180?
Plenty. The metre-wide footprint suits several schools of small-to-medium fish plus a centrepiece such as a pair of angelfish or a group of larger rasboras, over a planted layout. Stock gradually and match the bioload to the filter.
Do I need the matching cabinet?
Strongly recommended. A filled 180 L tank weighs well over 200 kg, so it needs a stand rated for that load and dead level. The Juwel SBX cabinet is built for it; a generic piece of furniture usually is not.
